Catherine Zeta Jones
Zeta-Jones is the recipient of several accolades , including an Academy Award , a British Academy Film Award and a Tony Award , and in 2010 she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for her film and humanitarian endeavours. She supports various charities and causes, and is a prominent celebrity endorser of brands. Her struggle with depression and bipolar II disorder has been well-documented by the media. She is married to the actor Michael Douglas with whom she has two children.
The past few years have been tumultuous for the couple due to various reasons. For instance, in 2010, doctors diagnosed Michael with throat cancer (later reported as tongue cancer) and as a result, Catherine had to put her demanding career on hold to stay with her husband as he underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment in Canada. The pressure took its toll on the Catherine who finally broke down in front of a 13,000 crowd that had gathered for the Ryder Cup Welcome to Wales Concert.
Recently one of my clients asked about "trial-separations." She had been inspired by the highly publicized, healing separation of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas and wanted to my opinion on the subject. In a trial separation couples move away from each other physically for a specific period in order to examine their love and to potentially save the marriage.
